Navigator of the Midnight Sky by Lonnie Hannon III

September 21, 2009

September 2009 saw the release, signing, and reading of Lonnie Hannon’s second book of poetry.  Fans of Hannon had to wait a whopping 7 years between his first and second offering.  (Thanks for pulling a ‘Maxwell’ on us, Lonnie).  Lonnie gives us a collection of poems which showcase his creativity and grace.  Lonnie held a successful book signing (Friday, Sep 18, 2009, 1pm, Little Professor Book Store).  Fans as well as store-browsers purchased Navigator and had the pleasure of chatting with the author as well as getting an autograph.  Lonnie’s held a successful book reading (Friday, Sep 18, 2009, 6-8pm, Crestwood Coffee Company).  The author wove background music, dancing, and acoustic guitar playing into his poetry reading which made for an unexpected, interesting, and completely enjoyable performance.  A dance with the wife and a poem dedicated to his son was the icing on the cake.  Lonnie’s new collection of poems remind us of the simple beauty in life.  He presents mini-stories in a fresh, new way.  He paints pictures with his words.  Lonnie has a wisdom and his work has quality.  When Lonnie shares his gifts through books like Navigator, we win.
